and Coppa della Perugina

The Via Flaminia Tour 2008 was a great success, many of its participants have indicated that they will be present for the 5th Via Flaminia Tour in 2009.

Since in one-month time the Via Flaminia Tour 2008 was fully booked the organisation has decided to have two largely identical events for 2009.

The formula for success behind the Via Flaminia Tour remains much the same. Some thirty classic cars will participate in a friendly event and drive an average of 200 - 250 km a day through some of the most beautiful places of Italy. The atmosphere is great, enhanced by a slight competitive element.

As always the event is open to everybody with a classic car from (preferably) before 1974 and preferably from Italian design and make. Place on the Düsseldorf to Verona car train has been reserved in order to accommodate participants from Northern Europe.

The train for the first edition will be leaving on Friday May 15th and will return the Sunday morning a week later. The first edition of the Via Flaminia Tour 2009 will only have a Tour class. This edition will join up with the Coppa della Perugina, one of the better know recreations of a pre-war car event. As many Italian classic car events the Coppa della Perugina is very much about showing off one's car and socialising. How can this better be done than with a good meal and a good glass of wine in a historical setting ? If you have never enjoyed a truly Italian "raduno" then this is your chance. In order to encourage participants to bring there nicest car to the first edition of the Via Flaminia Tour there will be a service car assisting those in need.

The Coppa della Perugina is a weekend long event which a high participation of pre-war cars. Ca 50% of the hundred cars is from before the war and even some 30 are from the original period of the Coppa, before 1930. In three days some 300 km will be covered through Umbria.

The second edition will leave Düsseldorf two weeks later. Next to the Tour class it will have a Sport class. This year the difference between both classes will be bigger than in previous years, making it more enjoyable for those who primarily want to enjoy the scenery as well as for those who want a real challenge.

In both classes it is not about speed but all about navigation skills. After all it is the atmosphere, which counts at the end of the day.

The accommodation is included in the price as well as most meals. In order to make it affordable for most people, accommodation will be in three and four star hotels.
