Glycostem Therapeutics (GCT) is an young innovative lifescience company which has developed an unique method for the ex-vivo expansion and differentiation of hematopoietic cells as alternative. This proprietary know how concerns the ex-vivo expansion and differentiation of Hematopoietic stem Cells into functional NK-cells.

GCT's competitive edge is the clinical applicability of producing large amounts of NK-cells under Good Manufacturing en Good Clinical Practices conditions. [back]

Proof of concept
In order to achieve acceptance of NK-based DLI as a new treatment of cancer, proof of concept needs to be documented by executing experimental clinical trials. For that purpose GCT will study together with leading transplantation centres the clinical potential of NK-cell treatment of patients suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Progress
In October 2009 a project by UMC St. Radboud and GCT under the Translational Research Program of ZonMW (a governmental subsidy organisation related to Min-VWS) was rewarded by a large subsidy of 1,4 mln. Euros. [... read more]
